Terms of use
Last updated 4 November 2026
The short version.
Shank You helps golfers find used clubs nearby and book a time to see them. The sale itself is between the buyer and the seller. You pay the seller directly, by cash or bank transfer. We don't handle, hold or refund the money for the clubs.
Booking a viewing is free, and you don't need a card. Please keep the times you book, or cancel in the app so the seller isn't left waiting.
1. About these terms
Shank You is an online marketplace where people buy and sell golf clubs and golf gear. It is operated by Shank You Pty Ltd (ACN 703 820 197, ABN 18 703 820 197) (Shank You, we, us). These terms apply whenever you use the Shank You app or website (the Platform).
- By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Platform.
- If you use the Platform for a business, you confirm you can bind that business to these terms.
- We may update these terms. We'll tell you about material changes before they take effect, by email or in the app. If you keep using the Platform after that, the new terms apply.
2. Accounts and listings
Your account
- Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
- You may hold one personal account, which works in the app and on the website. Keep your login secure; you're responsible for activity on your account.
- Golf businesses will be able to open a free Pro Shop account to advertise (coming soon). Pro Shop accounts can't list or sell items.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, puts other users at risk, or that we reasonably suspect of fraud.
Selling
When you list an item, you confirm that:
- you're a private seller, not a business;
- you own it, or are authorised to sell it, and it is free of any debt or claim;
- your description, photos, condition and specifications (brand, model, shaft, loft, hand, length) are accurate and not misleading;
- the item is available to view and collect in person at the viewing times you accept; and
- the item is legal to sell in Australia.
Each listing needs at least three photos of the actual item and an honest description. Don't put phone numbers, email addresses or links in a listing: buyers contact you through the app. The map shows the area your item is in, never your exact address.
Your listed price is your asking price. You and the buyer can agree a different price at the viewing.
Prohibited items
You must not list:
- counterfeit, replica or "inspired" copies of branded clubs or gear;
- stolen goods;
- items recalled for safety reasons; or
- anything other than golf clubs, golf equipment and golf apparel.
We may remove any listing that breaches these terms, and may report suspected counterfeit or stolen goods to the brand owner or the police.
3. Viewings, payments and fees
Our role. Shank You connects buyers and sellers. The sale is between the buyer and the seller. Shank You is not the seller and never owns, holds or inspects any item.
Paying for items. Buyers pay sellers directly at pick-up, in cash or by bank transfer (such as PayID). Shank You doesn't process, hold or guarantee payments for items, and can't refund them.
Booking a viewing. You can book a viewing for today or any of the next 3 days, at a time the seller has free. You can have one booking at a time for each item, and up to 5 bookings at once. The seller accepts, or can't make it; if they can't, they may suggest another time, which you can book with one tap.
Changing the time. Once a viewing is accepted, either of you can ask to move it to another free time. The other person says yes or keeps the original time, and nothing changes until they say yes. A viewing can be moved once. To change it again, cancel and book a new time.
Booking is free. Booking a viewing costs nothing, and you don't need a card to book. Please only book a time you mean to keep, and cancel in the app if your plans change, so the seller isn't left waiting. We may introduce a small booking fee later; if we do, we'll tell you before it applies, and it won't apply to viewings you've already booked.
Bump and Feature. Sellers can pay to Bump or Feature a listing. The price and how long it runs are shown before you pay. Once a promotion starts, it isn't refunded for change of mind.
Ads. Golf businesses will be able to advertise through Pro Shop accounts (coming soon). Ads will always be labelled "Sponsored", and shops will only ever see how many people saw an ad, never who.
Card payments. Bumps, Features and (when available) ads are paid by card through our payment provider, Stripe. You enter your card on Stripe's page; we only keep the card type and last four digits.
GST. Our fees include GST where it applies.
Stay safe. Only pay a seller once you've seen the item in person. Shank You will never ask you to pay a seller in advance or through a link.
4. Pick-up, problems and disputes
Pick-up only. Items are viewed and collected in person. Nothing is posted, and Shank You doesn't arrange delivery. The seller's exact address is shown to the buyer only once the seller accepts the viewing.
Check before you pay. Look over and try the item at the viewing. Once you've paid the seller, any problem with the item is between you and the seller.
Report a problem. Report counterfeit, stolen or misleading listings, or unsafe behaviour, by emailing admin@shankyou.com.au with the listing or viewing. We'll review the listing, messages and photos, and may ask both sides for more information. We may then remove the listing, suspend an account, or refer the matter to the police. Because item payments don't go through Shank You, we can't refund the price of an item.
No-shows.
- If the seller isn't there, report it in the app within 1 hour of the viewing time. The seller is told.
- If the buyer doesn't turn up, the seller can report it in the app within 24 hours of the viewing time. The report is shown to other sellers when that buyer books with them. If a report about you is wrong, email admin@shankyou.com.au and we'll look into it. You can still review a viewing that was reported.
- Please only report a no-show when it's true. We may close the accounts of people who misuse no-show reports.
Change of mind. Whether a seller takes an item back is up to the buyer and seller.
Messages. Keep messages about the item and the viewing, and be respectful. Until the seller accepts a viewing, phone numbers, email addresses, links and social media handles are blocked in messages and booking notes, so both sides stay protected inside the app. Contact details are always blocked in listings, reviews and names. Messages close when a viewing is cancelled or declined; book a new time to message again. To stop spam, the app limits how many messages you can send in an hour.
Reviews. After a viewing has happened, the buyer and seller can each leave one review of the other. Reviews must be honest and about that viewing. No abuse, personal information, or reviews in exchange for anything. If the seller reported the buyer as a no-show, the buyer's review is shown with a note saying so. We may remove reviews that break these terms.
5. Content, liability and general
Your content. You keep ownership of the photos and text you post. You give Shank You a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use them to run and promote the Platform while they're live and for a reasonable time after. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
Behaviour and reports. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Shank You. Don't post, send or list anything offensive, abusive, threatening, hateful, sexual, misleading or illegal, and don't harass anyone. Our app filters some words automatically. Anyone can report a listing, a person, a message or a review with Report, and block a person with Block: blocked people can't message you, book your listings or see each other's listings. We look at every report within 24 hours. We may remove content, hide a listing while we look at it (we do this automatically when several people report it), and suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Contact us at admin@shankyou.com.au.
Our content. The Platform, its software, design and the Shank You name and logo belong to Shank You Pty Ltd.
Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't lawfully be excluded. Consumer guarantees about the items sold are the seller's responsibility, not Shank You's.
Limits on our liability. To the extent the law allows:
- we provide the Platform "as is" and don't guarantee it will always be available or error-free;
- we're not liable for the quality, safety or legality of items listed, or for anything a user does or fails to do; and
- where our liability can be limited, it is limited to resupplying our services or refunding the fees you paid us for the relevant promotion.
Your responsibility. You agree to cover any loss Shank You suffers because you breached these terms or the law, except to the extent we caused it.
Ending your use. You can close your account at any time by emailing admin@shankyou.com.au. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms. Viewings already booked are still handled under these terms.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction.
